Okolica wieży Galata roi się od fajnych restauracji, kawiarni i knajpek. Mimo tej ogromnej konkurencji naszą ulubioną okazała się jednak Galata Kiva. Podają w niej wyśmienite w smaku potrawy z różnych rejonów Turcji, część z nich wybieramy z wystawionych na widok ciekawskich gablot i garmażerek. Nasza kulinarna uczta zdawała się nie mieć tutaj końca. Każde z degustowanych dań wydawało się lepsze niż poprzednie. Kubki smakowe szalały po kolejnym kęsie liści winogron nadziewanych fasolą - to specjał pochodzący ze starożytnego miasta Amasya - a o tym, co działo się z nimi przy pomidorach z orzechami marynowanych w słodkim syropie - wynalazek mieszkańców małej wysepki Bozcaada - wstyd nawet przy ludziach wspominać. Poprzestańmy na lakonicznym stwierdzeniu, że zarówno lunch, jak i niedzielny brunch w Galata to prawdziwy festiwal smaków!

The area around the Galata Tower is full of cool restaurants, cafes and pubs. Despite the fierce competition, Galata Kiva turned out to be our favourite. It serves delicacies from all over Turkey, some of which can be selected from the open fridges, set up with the more inquisitive guests in mind. Our culinary feast seemed never to end, and each next dish tasted better than the last. Our taste buds went crazy after biting into the vine leaves stuffed with beans - a treat from the ancient city of Amasya. What happened after we got our hands on the tomatoes with walnuts marinated in a sweet syrup - an dish invented on the small island of Bozcaada - is too much to mention here... Let's just say that both lunch and Sunday brunch at Galata is a veritable festival of flavour!

Stąd w pełnej krasie zobaczyliśmy, jak pełną kontrastów, jak barwną metropolią jest Stambuł. To w tym mieście piękne drewniane domy z XIX wieku stoją tuż obok współczesnych szklanych wież. Tradycyjna kuchnia najlepiej smakuje popijana modnym koktailem, przed klubem-restauracją 360 widzisz grupę Turków w tradycyjnych strojach w transowym, wirującym tańcu derwiszów. Kiedy publika po szalonej nocy opuszcza ten klub, miasto budzi się nawoływaniem z meczetów do porannej modlitwy. Jednak wszystkie te pozorne przeciwności łączą się w całość, tworząc chyba jedną z najbardziej wyjątkowych i niesamowitych metropolii świata. Którą najlepiej zobaczysz z 360.

They may not serve the best food in the world, or make the best Martini under the Istanbul sun, but if we were you,wewould immediately head to the top two floors of this building. 360 is a glass, steel and brick architectural fantasy and trendy restaurant,which also operates a bar and club on the upper level. Fromthis vantage point, we can witness Istanbul in all its glory - and the contrasts and vibrance that go with it: beautiful 19th century wooden houses standing shoulder to shoulder withmodern glass skyscrapers; traditional cuisinewhich tastes best when washed down with a trendy cocktail; groups ofwhirling dervishes in traditional dresses in front of the 360 club and restaurant; and when the guests leave the club after a crazy night out, the citywakes up to the muezzin's call for morning prayers. Somehow, all these apparent opposites come together, creating perhaps one of the most unique and amazing cities in the world. Best admired fromthe 360.
